Nk'Mip Cellars is the first Aboriginal owned and operated winery in North America. Explore our heritage and our commitment to making quality VQA wines by enjoying a selection of complimentary wines from our Winemaker's Series or indulge by tasting some of our premium Qwam Qwmt (which translates to "achieving excellence") wines for a nominal fee.Our distinctive wineshop is open for your enjoyment daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 1 through August 31. Take an inside look and learn how our wines are made from vine to glass during our unique winery tour. You will be guided by experienced winery staff who will reveal some of the secrets of winemaking as you stroll through our state of the art White and Red Fermentation Rooms and our famous Oak Barrel Grotto.Tours are offered Daily at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. from May until October. Allow one of our wine educators to guide you through the tasting of our most exclusive wines, the Qwam Qwmt Series. “Qwam Qwmt” means “Achieving Excellence” in the Okanagan language spoken by the Osoyoos Indian Band. Your knowledgeable wine educator will demonstrate proper tasting techniques, explain how stemware can affect the taste of wines and offer technical wine information. An Nk’Mip sampler plate will accompany this tasting. Following your tasting, enjoy a 20% discount on Riedel stemware purchases. Savour the essence of Nk’Mip Cellars during this in-depth tour of our vineyard, fermentation rooms and cellars while you learn about winemaking, Vintner’s Quality Alliance and the Okanagan Valley as a grape-growing region. Your tour will be followed by a tasting of our flight of premium wines as well as two library wines in Riedel specific stemware. Your knowledgeable wine educator will demonstrate proper tasting techniques, explain how stemware can affect the taste of wines and offer technical wine information. Tasting notes, wine cards, and wine speak glossary sheets are included. As an additional bonus, your exclusive tasting allows you to purchase our library release wines (not available to the public) and you are also entitled to a 20% discount on Riedel stemware purchases. Desert Culture Centre Legacy Fund
Nk'Mip Cellars is proud to announce that we donate $1.00 from every bottle of the Qwam Qwmt series wines sold at the winery to the Desert Cultural Centre Legacy Fund. This is a permanent legacy fund established with the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan. The non-profit foundation's mandate is cultural education and environmental stewardship. The Osoyoos Indian Band reserve inhabits some of the last large tracts of desert lands left in Canada. Nk'Mip Cellars has made it their goal to give back to this fragile ecosystem. Nk'Mip Cellars winemaker, Randy Picton, states that, "We have the utmost respect for our surrounding lands that we rely so heavily on to give us our quality grapes.
